A Mother's Fight for Justice

2026-03-04

I was pushing a pink insulated box shaped like a little bunny, selling ice cream in the residential community with my twin daughters, just wanting them to learn to be brave. The next moment, luxury high heels shattered all tenderness—Melody Lee threw the identity of "Jimmy Young's wife" right in my face. She ordered her bodyguards to hold me down, forced Daisy and Nola to raise their hands and hit me, while the live stream chat erupted with "The other woman deserves to die." Clutching the marriage certificate crushed by car wheels, I heard my daughters crying and shouting, "Mom, don't go." At that moment, I realized: gentleness won't save us; counterattack is a mother's armor.收起

Chapter 1 of "A Mother's Fight for Justice"

My name is Lydia Collins. I'm thirty years old, married to my husband, Jimmy Young, for five years. We have four-year-old twin daughters—the elder is Daisy, and the younger is Nola. Daisy has a quiet temperament; her voice always carries a timid, gentle softness. Nola is livelier than her sister, her eyes constantly darting around, as if harboring a head full of little schemes. Jimmy works as a project leader at a tech company and is usually so busy, he barely has time to rest. But no matter how exhausted he was when he came home, he would always hug our daughters first, rubbing his stubble against them until they giggled. A month ago, Jimmy Young told me he was going abroad to negotiate an important deal. Before he left, he knelt by the entrance, repeatedly stroking his daughters' heads, reminding me to take good care of them. He even smiled and promised to bring the most beautiful doll from overseas for the girls. At the time, I just thought it was one of his countless business trips and didn't give it much thought. After Jimmy Young left, the house fell into a deep silence. Every afternoon at three, the sunlight bathed the cobblestone path in the center square of our residential community with a warm glow. At that moment, I would carry the pink cartoon insulated box I ordered online and take Daisy and Nola to sell ice cream. The insulated box was decorated with their favorite little bunny pattern, lace stitched along the edges. The first time the two kids met, their eyes sparkled like stars. My family isn't short of money; Jimmy Young's salary is more than enough to cover our expenses. I did this because I noticed my daughters were very shy around strangers. At the last parent-child event in our residential community, other children surrounded the teacher, singing and dancing. But my girls hid behind me, afraid to look up, and my heart ached with worry. I want to have them sell ice cream to help them interact more with others and build their social skills. Every day before we leave, Daisy and Nola take it upon themselves to organize the insulated box. Daisy carefully arranges the different ice cream flavors, lining up the strawberry and chocolate separately. If the packaging is crooked, she gently smooths it out. Nola is in charge of checking that the insulated box lid is securely closed and hanging the coin purse on the handle. Her small hand grips the bag's opening tightly, afraid the coins might fall out. At first, they were clumsy with their motions, but after finishing, they'd look up at me with their little faces, waiting for me to say, "Good job, my darlings!" I looked at their earnest faces, my heart melting, and gently tousled their hair. Then I took their little hands and walked towards the square. The ice cream sales had been especially good these past couple of days. At three in the afternoon in the square, many elderly people were out walking with children, and some young people off work passed by. Ms. Clark and Mr. Lee from the residential community saw Daisy and Nola. They wore pale pink dresses, their hair tied in perky twin braids, crouching beside the insulated box. When someone asked the price, they shyly handed over the ice cream, and Ms. Clark and Mr. Lee would always stop with a smile. Ms. Clark bought two strawberry-flavored ice creams, took out some change to pay, and couldn't help but stroke Daisy's cheek. She praised them for being sensible, saying they were so young yet already helping their mother with chores. At first, Daisy hid behind me, tugging at my clothes; her ears turned red when she heard the compliments. Later, as she grew bolder, whenever someone bought ice cream, she would quietly say, "Thank you, Mr./Ms." Her voice was soft but full of earnestness. Nola took charge of counting the loose change, her small hands carefully picking up and counting every coin. If I miscounted, I would furrow my brows and count again, only putting the money into the coin purse once I was certain it was correct. Watching the child change little by little, my heart filled with comfort, convinced that this decision was right.

From Sweethearts to Enemies

When he stood by my hospital bed with Vanessa Black, his pregnant mistress, I had just lost our third child. "Tracy Fey," Jerry Murphy said casually, "Vanessa will be living with us from now on, so you'll have to put up with it." I looked at him, realizing that we end up hating each other: "Let's get a divorce." He laughed like I'd told a joke, chuckling low: "Divorce? Do you think you can survive without me? You're a worthless loser with no job and nowhere to go." He leaned in close, whispering an ultimatum in my ear: "Remember, as long as I, Jerry Murphy, am in this city, you'll never get a break." "Oh? Is that so? Jerry Murphy,...

The Spoiled Mooncake

I unpacked the mooncake box brought back by Mia Collins; a musty stench hit me, the manufacture date frozen a decade ago—our wedding year. Our daughter bit into one, white foam instantly spilling from the corner of her mouth, her small body arching like a bow in my arms. I rushed her into the Emergency Room, and the moment the red light flared, I heard our seven-year marriage snap cleanly in two. The nurse handed me the critical condition notice; I pulled out a pen, but first slid over the divorce agreement: "She signs first, then I will." Mia Collins knelt on the floor, weeping and begging for mercy, while I stared at the fresh bite mark on her collarbone,...

The Insurance Salesman

It had been five years since graduation. I thought the ties with my classmates had long faded with time, but then class leader Tina Clark suggested a reunion. Now, I'm just an insurance salesman. I figured I'd join to keep the vibe going—maybe even land a few clients. But when I stepped into that fancy private room, what greeted me wasn't the joy of reunion, but sharp, cutting laughter and humiliation. They mocked me for falling further behind, laughing at me for working in that ‘lowly' insurance business. I gritted my teeth and swallowed it. They didn’t know that this gathering was about to mark the beginning of their nightmare...收起

After I Am Late for My Friend's Wedding

As the blue chip shimmered coldly on my fingertips, a high school group chat notification appeared: "Charles Lynn, Felix Carter's wedding—do you dare not to attend?" I fixated on the screen; the slap from ten years past reverberated in my eardrums—the one he took on my behalf, now demanding my submission. On page seventeen of the Confidential Manual lying on my desk, the scarlet text seared: Strictly forbidden to disclose identity. Yet I went nonetheless, carrying eight thousand in gift money and a cross necklace shattered underfoot. That day, they came to understand that what I guarded was not merely national secrets, but a future beyond their aspiration.收起

At the opening ceremony, I knelt, wiping the wine stains from her shoes. He held her close, his eyes full of contempt: "How dare you show you face here—a murderer?" I suddenly lifted my head, my voice hoarse but clear: "Glenn Hurley, the one who killed your mother that night — it was not me!"收起

Three Suicides and a Survival

The birthday party's streamers hadn't even been taken down when Joyce Cooper rushed into the garden clutching a pregnancy test, her face as pale as paper: "Rachel, I'm pregnant with Zachary's child! You have to give him to me!" I felt as if struck by lightning, and the wine glass in my hand crashed to the ground: "Joyce? Are you crazy? He is my fiancé!" "I'm not crazy!" She lunged forward and grabbed my hand, her nails digging into my flesh. "I can't live without him, and my child can't be without a father! Your family has money—what kind of man can't you find?" Footsteps sounded behind me, and I whipped around. Zachary Lowell, dressed sharply in his suit, came...
