Don't Stop the Fire

2026-03-04

I was reborn one second before Aurora Sharpe lit the heart-shaped candle. The flame flickered at her fingertips, reflecting the gentle gaze of Ricky Deer, the school heartthrob. Everyone expected me to rush forward and stop the disaster like I did in the past. But this time, I simply stood quietly in the shadows. After all, only I knew how those flames would lick through her carefully styled long hair.收起

Chapter 1 of "Don't Stop the Fire"

Today was the day before school registration—and it was also Valentine's Day. I sat in the back row of the classroom, watching Aurora Sharpe doodle hearts in her notebook. She's the campus belle of our class, with long hair down to her waist and two faint dimples when she smiles. But I know what kind of malice hides behind that pretty face. "Cynthia Sue, what do you think of the confession plan I put together?" Aurora Sharpe turned around, holding a sheet of paper filled with detailed steps. I leaned in to get a closer look, and my heart tightened sharply. Heart-shaped candle, sky lantern—exactly like last time. Last time, I was here too, desperately trying to stop her. I told her there were plenty of trees and dry grass on campus, and that candles and sky lanterns could easily spark a fire. But she wouldn't listen at all, even saying I was just jealous because she could confess to Ricky Deer, the school heartthrob. Later, a girl from the next class intercepted Ricky early, holding a huge bouquet of roses and confessed to him. Ricky smiled and said yes. Aurora Sharpe completely exploded when she saw that. She unleashed all her anger on me, saying that if I hadn't stopped her, she would've succeeded in confessing ages ago. That night, she cornered me in the narrow alley behind the teaching building. I'll never forget the icy cold blade of that utility knife slicing across my cheek, nor the soul-shattering pain when flames engulfed my body. In the final moment before my consciousness slipped away, I saw her standing just beyond the flames, grinning triumphantly. "Cynthia Sue? What are you spacing out for?" Aurora Sharpe's voice snapped me back to reality. I jerked my head up, staring at her familiar face, my stomach churning. I've been reborn—reborn on the very day she planned to confess. This time, I'm not going to stop her. I'll pretend not to hear a thing and watch her fall, step by step, into the hell she dug for herself. "Huh? What did you say?" I deliberately frowned, pretending I hadn't heard clearly. "I was just thinking about the start-of-term registration and wasn't really paying attention." Aurora Sharpe pouted, gave it little thought, and handed me the paper again: "I'm going to confess to Ricky Deer tonight on the playground using a heart-shaped candle and sky lantern. Can you help me set it up?" I lowered my eyes, masking the hatred beneath, and gently nodded, "Sure." She turned around happily, still smiling foolishly at her sketchbook. I looked out the window—the sunlight was just right, but I felt a chill all over. Aurora Sharpe, in this life, your tragedy is only just beginning.

He'd Rather Die Than Marry Me

This is my third rebirth, and also my twenty-fifth birthday. In the living room stood Trace Adams and Howard Adams—my two husband-by-contract, raised since childhood, and the men who killed me on my wedding nights in previous lives. On the rosewood table lay a jade pendant symbolizing the marriage contract. Just as my father began to speak and ask me to choose, Trace Adams suddenly knelt down with a thud. Immediately afterward, Howard Adams also dropped to his knees. "Don't choose me." They spoke in unison, their voices trembling. The cup in my mother's hand shattered on the floor: "With our family's power and wealth, and Marissa's character. How dare you find fault? It's absolutely unacceptable!" I stared at their...

I Was His Best Weapon

When I was fifteen, beaten half to death in an alley, Isaac appeared like a god. "From now on, I'll protect you." He said. I believed that sentence for ten years—taking bullets for him, bleeding for him, even nearly losing my life. "Mr. Isaac, are you really that concerned about Veronica?" I watched him imprison that woman at all costs, and I felt my heart grow cold. "Cynthia," he gripped my chin, his tone icy, "you're just my most useful tool. Don't meddle in things that aren't your concern." Tool. After ten years of pouring my heart out, I realized that to him, I was just his tool. Later, to break free from him and to get my revenge, I...

My Husband Missing For Eight Years

I will never forget the moment I pushed open the door. There, sitting at a table with another woman, was my husband Tim—who had been missing for eight years! "Tim, have you been here before?" the woman asked with a coquettish smile. He replied lightly, "I don't remember." Eight years ago, I married him. But after one "business trip," he vanished without a trace. I took on the heavy burden of the family alone, caring for my sick mother-in-law and raising our young daughter. It wasn't until I met him again that I realized he had become someone else's lover. I was shocked, and I decided to start over—only to be harassed repeatedly by his new girlfriend. Then, Tim's good...

His Misunderstanding of Love

On our wedding night, he took a quilt and went to sleep in the guest room, coldly dropping the words, "I have misogyny, I can't share a room with you." Then I had dressed up carefully to visit his company, only to overhear him teasing and laughing intimately with my stepsister. The so-called "misogyny" was a lie—he simply didn't want to touch me. The one he truly loved had always been my stepsister...收起

Return from the Dead

That night, I thought I had strangled my wife, Lydia Carter, with a belt; yet now, she sits on the sofa wearing a blood-red nightgown, her belly swollen as if eight months pregnant. She looks up at me and smiles, as gentle as ever, like when she used to wait for me after work: "The amniotic fluid has broken. Take me to the Hospital, please." I clutch the charm paper in my pocket; the Taoist priest said she is not human, but a "soul returning." But I clearly smell the lavender scent at the tips of her hair, identical to the scent buried in the earth a year ago. If she is a ghost, then whom have I mistakenly killed?...

No More a Nice Girl

"Aurora Becker, sign the divorce papers." Hank Silva slammed the papers down in front of me, while his childhood sweetheart, Yvette Sullivan, linked her arm with his; the new diamond ring on her finger flashed blindingly. I stared at him. "All because of her?" "Yvette's more considerate than you." He sneered, "Don't forget, I was the one who covered your dad's emergency medical bills." "And you still have the nerve to bring up my dad?" I clenched my fingers into my palm. "That day you 'got lost' on purpose in the neighborhood, just so you could hang out with her, right?" Yvette Sullivan chuckled, "So what? Hank loves me—he even helped me get your dad's ashes." "Hank, listen to me."...
