Survival Pact

2026-03-04

I looked down at the dark, endless convoy below, my palms growing icy cold. In the living room, my mother's nails almost dug into my flesh: "Yvette, Mr. Stafford intends to marry the Scott Family's daughter. You will go." "I won't go." I tore my hand from hers. "James Stafford is so scary. Marrying him is a death sentence!" At the top of the stairs, Caroline Scott timidly peeked out. "Yvette, I... I'm scared." I stared into her innocent eyes, a sudden chill running down my spine. In my previous life, I was deceived by her appearance and ended up taking that deathly wedding car for her. "Mom," I said slowly, my voice so cold it felt unfamiliar even to myself, "Is Mr. Stafford going to marry the Scott Family's long-lost daughter of fifteen years, or..." I looked at Caroline Scott. "That 'adopted daughter' you've carefully raised for fifteen years?"收起

Chapter 1 of "Survival Pact"

My name is Yvette Scott, the true heiress of the Scott Family who went missing for fifteen years. Three months after being recognized by the Scott Family, the morning sunlight had just climbed over the villa's carved railings when a piercing roar of engines shattered the tranquility of the courtyard. I stood behind the second-floor curtains, watching the convoy of five black cars pull up steadily at the entrance. Two men dressed in black suits and wearing sunglasses stepped out of the lead car. Mrs. Scott's piercing scream echoed from downstairs, mixed with Mr. Scott's stifled gasp. Holding the stair railing, I descended the stairs and just happened to see the two men in suits carrying a velvet box into the living room. The moment they opened it, the light refracted by the diamond necklace inside was painfully dazzling. "Mr. Scott, Mrs. Scott," the man on the left said in a voice utterly void of warmth, "this is the betrothal gift prepared by Mr. Stafford, valued at ten million." He paused, his gaze sweeping across the people in the living room. "Mr. Stafford is marrying the Scott Family heiress; come and take her away now." The living room instantly fell deathly silent. Caroline Scott rushed out from the kitchen, dressed in a pink princess dress. As the fake heiress the Scott Family had kept for fifteen years, her face was filled with panic and disbelief. Mr. Scott's eyes darted back and forth between me and Caroline Scott, his Adam's apple bobbing as he struggled to find words. Suddenly, Mrs. Scott grabbed my wrist with such strength it nearly crushed my bones. "It's you, Yvette, it has to be you." Her voice trembled with tears but held an unyielding certainty, "Only you have met James Stafford; you must be the one he's looking for." Suddenly, I remembered the man in the black trench coat at the corner coffee shop three months ago. He accidentally knocked over my coffee and handed me a handkerchief embroidered with silver patterns; the coldness of his fingertips was startling. That was my only interaction with James Stafford; we didn't exchange a single word. "I won't go." I forcefully pulled my hand away from Mrs. Scott and stepped back, leaning against the stairs. The name James Stafford is known by everyone in City R; as the head of the Stafford Group, he is ruthless, and rumors say he has a violent streak, with blood on his hands. A man like that suddenly sending a dowry worth millions can never be because of a mere acquaintance. Caroline Scott hid behind Mr. Scott and timidly said, "Dad, Mom, I haven't met Mr. Stafford. He definitely doesn't want to marry me." The Man in a Suit's gaze darkened as he reached with his right hand toward his waist, where a hard object was visibly bulging. Mrs. Scott's face went pale as she pushed me toward the door. "Yvette, I beg you, the Scott Family can't afford to have any trouble." Her tears fell on the back of my hand, burning yet cold. "You're going to the Stafford Family. Behave yourself; Mr. Stafford won't treat you unfairly." She pushed me, and I stumbled into the arms of the man in a suit. The man's palm clamped my arm like an iron grip, shoving me into the back seat of the car. The car window slowly rolled up. I watched Caroline Scott standing at the doorway, a faint, elusive smile playing at the corner of her lips. After driving for forty minutes, the car stopped before an ancient castle built against the mountain. The black iron gate slowly opened, revealing a neatly trimmed rose garden inside, though the air was tinged with a faint scent of disinfectant.

A Marriage to Avenge My Sister

I knelt in the pouring rain, holding my sister whose face was scratched, begging my fiance to save her. He held an umbrella and said only this: "The Taylor Family is powerful; do not implicate me." The next day, he led the bridal procession to the Taylor Family's Residence to propose, while I tore my wedding gown into pieces with my own hands. Later, I returned to the city as Prince Alex's Second Consort. At a palace banquet thronged by thousands, I smiled as I watched him kneel, begging me to relent. "Thomas Shaw, you abandoned me like a worn-out shoe back then. Now, just watch how I overturn the heavens and the earth."收起

Hatred in the Heart

Unkept Promises

The words on that unfamiliar app pricked at my heartstrings. The sound of running water in the bathroom died down, and Eric's footsteps drew near. "What are you doing with my phone?" His voice tightened abruptly as he reached out to snatch it. I stepped back half a pace, holding the phone up to confront him. "'Seven years of toughing it out, used to putting on a brave face'—is that talking about us?" His eyes darted away as he stumbled over his excuses. "Someone else sent that. I logged into the wrong account!" "Logged into the wrong account and still replied to every single message?" I gritted my teeth, staring him down. "Said you were afraid of getting my hopes...

My Right Groom Was His Brother

Before my consciousness slipped away, I clearly heard their final words— Heidi Lewis: "Handling the ashes is such a hassle. Can I just toss them in the trash?" Chuck Smith: "Do as you wish, baby." Hatred stabbed through my heart like an ice pick. When I opened my eyes again, I was reborn. On the day of the engagement party, Chuck Smith smiled warmly and gracefully, just like before. As both sets of parents raised their glasses, I slowly stood up. "I will not be marrying him." The entire room fell silent. Chuck Smith's father slammed down a cup: "Chloe Allen, are you playing us?!" I met Chuck Smith's suddenly cold gaze and laughed without warning. "I can be married."...

I Regret Saving You

"You know? They all say I look like her." I held my wine glass, standing behind Arsenal Lancaster, my voice as soft as if I was talking to myself. He turned around, his eyes flashing with panic for a moment, then quickly dimming. "Marty, don't be ridiculous." "Ridiculous?" I smiled, stepped forward, tilted my head up to look at him, "Arsenal, tell me—was the marriage certificate fake?" His pupils contracted sharply; he remained silent. "I heard it," I leaned close to his ear, speaking each word clearly, "You said you kept me because I'm obedient, not like Selena White who throws tantrums." He grabbed my wrist in one swift motion, his grip so hard it felt like he wanted to...

As Love Dies

I once believed that our seven-year marriage was unbreakable—until that MMS tore all illusions apart. In the photo, he stood before the hotel room door, a brooch I had personally selected pinned to his collar. The pork rib soup in the claypot still bubbled gently, yet I had already drawn the knife. During the seventeen seconds the elevator descended, I pictured thirty different scenes of the blade falling. But before the revolving door's glass, I saw eyes colder than any blade—my own.收起
