The Girl Who Stole My Life

2026-03-03

I will never forget the day of our seventh wedding anniversary, when Jonas Lowell brought home a girl. "Leah, look at her. Doesn't she remind you of yourself when you were young?" The girl timidly called me "Leah," and the glass in my hand shattered on impact. Hot water scalded my foot, yet he protected her first: "Sarah, did it burn you?" Later, on my birthday, he placed the pearl necklace my mother left me around her neck, right before my eyes. "It's just a necklace, isn't it? Sarah liked it; what's wrong with giving it to her?" I could no longer endure it and demanded a divorce. He actually locked my wrists with an iron chain. "As long as you behave, I won't hurt you." Until the police broke in, until the truth was laid bare— "Ms. Leah, your child's death was no accident. Jonas Lowell smothered him with his own hands." Through the prison glass, he wept bitterly: "Leah, I didn't mean to..." I cut him off coldly: "Why did you kill Billy?"收起

Chapter 1 of "The Girl Who Stole My Life"

Today is the seventh anniversary of my marriage to Jonas Lowell. I had prepared his favorite pork rib soup in advance and waited for him in the living room. When I heard the door lock turn, I hurried to greet him. But the moment the door opened, I froze. Beside Jonas stood a girl, no more than seventeen or eighteen years old. She wore a white dress, her hair tied in a low ponytail, and the expression in her eyes made my heart tighten. It was the very same look I often had when I was seventeen. Jonas held the girl's hand as they came in, a smile on his face—one I hadn't seen in a long time. "Leah, this is Sarah," he said, pointing to the girl as he introduced her, his tone filled with unmistakable tenderness. "Look at her—isn't she just like you when you were young?" Sarah timidly looked at me and quietly said, "Hello, Leah." I opened my mouth but couldn't speak a word. Jonas Lowell seemed oblivious to my strange reaction and continued, "The first time I saw Sarah, I felt she was another you from a parallel universe." "That kind of innocence, that pure feeling—it's exactly like you at seventeen." His words pierced my heart like a needle. I turned to go to the kitchen for some soup, but my steps felt unsteady. When my hand touched the glass on the coffee table, I failed to grasp it firmly. "Clang!" The glass shattered on the floor, fragments scattering everywhere. Hot water splashed onto my pants, sending a sharp sting through me. I crouched down, trying to pick up the broken shards. Jonas Lowell finally came over, but instead of helping me, he pulled Sarah aside and asked worriedly, "Sarah, did you get burned?" Sarah shook her head and said, "I'm fine, Jonas." Jonas Lowell finally looked at me, his brows furrowing. "Leah, how could you be so careless?" He handed me a tissue, his tone completely devoid of concern, filled only with reproach. I took the tissue and wiped the water stains from my trouser legs. A flood of resentment surged in my heart, and my eyes instantly grew red. Jonas Lowell ignored me and turned to Sarah. "Sarah, I'll take you to see your room; it's just next to the guest room. I've already tidied it up." The two walked side by side toward the guest room, leaving me crouched alone among the scattered shards on the floor. The sky outside gradually darkened, and the light in the living room felt cold and desolate. I watched their backs and, for the first time, felt that this home no longer belonged to me.

The Fishing Lovers

The Decoration

I was carrying the braised duck Finn loves, my steps light as I headed toward the marital home renovation site — in just seven days, this would be our home. The sliding door left a crack open, and suddenly I heard his voice, thick with undisguised disdain: "Flora Lynn really thinks I'd decorate the ceiling with a starry sky just because she wants it?" Just as my heart sank, I heard his voice again, sickeningly gentle: "It has to be Whitney's way — soft apricot walls with white sheer curtains, that's comfortable." Whitney Scott, his ex-girlfriend. I gripped the hand holding the braised duck tighter and tighter, realizing that the marital home I'd longed for day and night never truly...

Making Peace with the Past

The key turned, and all sounds in the living room stopped abruptly. My hand hovering on the door froze, my heart sinking to the bottom of the abyss. Stella let out a startled cry. "Mason? Why are you back!" Her voice was laced with panic. I didn't respond, my gaze locking onto Daniel by the sofa—he was wearing my bathrobe, the sash tied neatly, a provocative smirk playing on his lips. "Mr. Mason sure knows how to pick his timing, walking in on the fun like this." "Daniel?" I gritted my teeth. "How dare you lay a hand on my wife?" Stella immediately stepped in front of him, forcing a calm tone. "I did it willingly! Mason, don't be unreasonable!"...

A Secret Surname

"Georgina, Debra is pregnant." When my husband Jeff said this, he didn't even look up at me; his finger gently brushed over Debra's belly. I flipped to the next non-disclosure agreement that needed handling, the tip of my pen never pausing. "I'll arrange the surgery and the hush money." "This time, it's different." He finally looked at me, his eyes colder than I had ever seen: "I want this child." I put down my pen and glanced at the young secretary hiding behind him, her eyes gleaming with triumph. Debra suddenly started crying, clutching his sleeve. "Jeff, I'm afraid... will Georgina hurt our baby?" He immediately pulled her closer, glaring at me furiously: "Georgina! Dare to lay a hand on...

The Debt of Love

My hand rested softly on my slightly swollen belly, clutching the birthday cake I had baked with my own hands, my heart brimming with joy as I prepared a surprise for Calvin Luke. Today was his birthday, and I was eagerly anticipating our sweet moment together. But the moment I stepped into the Banquet Hall, the scene before me pierced my heart like an ice pick—Vivian Lincoln was straddling his lap, red wine pouring down his shirt! I rushed over to confront him, only to be met with Calvin Luke's cold, harsh rebuke. In that moment, I realized—I was nothing more than a pawn in his grand scheme...收起

That Final Daddy

On the eve of the holiday, Luna wanted a strawberry cake and Lucy asked for an iced soda. I had just agreed to their requests when Melody, who had just finished a phone call, said, "A major client wants to meet. My promotion to director depends on this—I have to go." "Cancel it! The kids have been looking forward to visiting the reed marsh for a whole week!" I pulled her back. "This is an opportunity I've waited three years for!" She shrugged me off. "The bee venom allergy medicine is by the entrance—don't be careless." With that, she rushed out the door. The next day, at the reed marsh, Luna and Lucy ran into the wildflower patch. But within...

His Obsession

The blade pressed against my neck. Brian's voice drifted out of the darkness: "Keep an eye on her, leave her alive, stick to the original plan." I struggled. The masked man clamped a hand over my mouth. In the shadows, Brian's eyes blazed with nothing but crazed possessiveness. When I opened my eyes again, Alex was leaning over me: "Mia, I'll get you out of here—you just have to ask your dad to help my family's company." "You colluded with Brian?" I gritted my teeth, the metallic tang of blood filling my mouth. His face shifted. He forced a calm expression: "Don't talk nonsense! I'm truly here to save you." The door slammed open suddenly. Brian kicked Alex away and...

My Patient is My Husband

"Dr. Smith, my... my boyfriend wants to ask you to perform a private part plastic surgery." Ruby stood in front of me, her eyes darting about, and her voice trembling with a faint, barely noticeable quiver. I looked up, frowning. "This type of surgery requires the patient to apply in person." "He... he really can't make it. Dr. Smith, please!" She was so anxious that she was on the verge of tears, and the medical record she was clutching in her hand was almost crushed out of shape. I hesitated for a moment, but in the end, my heart softened. On the day of the surgery, I put on a mask and got ready to start. However, the moment the...
