"Owen Lloyd, don't even think about leaving me in this lifetime." I gently pushed her away and smiled. "Miss Sharpe, three years are up." She froze, her eyes clearing instantly from a daze. "What do you mean?" I leaned close to her ear and lowered my voice, "Game over. Do you know what I told myself every night before going to sleep these past three years?" She stared at me, breathing heavily. I said, "Just one more day of holding on, then I'm free." Her face went pale as I turned and walked toward the villa's front door. Suddenly, behind me, came her trembling shout: "Owen Lloyd! Do you believe... I'll make sure you can't leave this city?" I stopped walking but didn't look back. "Then guess why I dared to walk away?"收起

Chapter 1 of "The Paid Companion"

My name is Owen Lloyd. For three years, I was Gwendolyn Sharpe's devoted follower—a total simp—not out of love, but for a hefty monthly payment of 200,000. Three years ago, when Gwendolyn found me, I had just failed at my startup and was drowning in debt. She wore a haute couture gown, standing at the door of my leaky rental room like a rose blooming in the mud. "Owen Lloyd, you'll be my devoted follower for three years, always on call, fulfilling all my reasonable demands." Her voice carried an innate arrogance, yet was wrapped in an irresistible temptation I couldn't refuse. "Two hundred thousand per month, with the last month paid in a lump sum after three years, plus a bonus of five hundred thousand." I agreed almost without hesitation. For me back then, two million four hundred thousand a year, 7.7 million over three years, was enough to pay off my debts and start over. As for the label of being a "simp", I didn't care. Dignity is nothing in the face of survival. For three years, I was Gwendolyn Sharpe's most devoted follower. I queued up at dawn to grab the limited-edition bags she wanted. I drove hundreds of kilometers to get the exotic snacks she craved, making sure they were still warm. When she was in a bad mood, I was her punching bag. At her friends' gatherings, I served as her personal waiter—pouring tea, refilling water, always on call. Everyone thought I was hopelessly in love with Gwendolyn, to the point of losing myself—including Gwendolyn herself. Only I know that my heart is utterly calm. Everything I've done has been just a transaction. Today is the day our three-year pact expires—and also Gwendolyn Sharpe's 25th birthday. She hosted a lavish birthday party at her luxurious villa. As always, I wore the black suit she chose and stood in a corner of the banquet hall, ready to take her orders at any moment. The party was alive with clinking glasses and the scent of fine perfume. Gwendolyn Sharpe was unmistakably the center of attention, surrounded and adored by a crowd. She laughed wildly, downing glass after glass of red wine. I could tell she was already drunk—her eyes glazed over and her steps wobbly. At last, she slipped and almost fell. I instinctively rushed over and caught her arm. "Be careful." I whispered a warning. Before Gwendolyn could react, a few of her friends nearby started sneering. "Hey, Owen, looks like you love stealing the spotlight," they mocked. The speaker was Daisy, a wealthy girl who often tagged along with Gwendolyn Sharpe. "Seriously, when has Gwendolyn ever needed you to go out of your way for her?" Another guy, Hans, joined in with agreement. "You're nothing but a dog Gwendolyn keeps, yet you actually think you're something special?" Daisy's words grew harsher and harsher. My expression darkened, and a surge of anger rose inside me. But I held it in. Just one more day to hang on, then the deal would be over. I couldn't afford to mess it up now. Gwendolyn Sharpe pushed my hand away, frowning as she looked at me. There wasn't a trace of gratitude in her eyes, only impatience. "Don't touch me." Her tone was cold. I pulled back my hand and silently stepped back. "Go make me a bowl of hangover soup." Gwendolyn Sharpe ordered. "And deliver millet porridge to my room at 7 a.m. tomorrow. Make sure it's cooked soft and mushy." She paused, saying nothing about renewing the payment or settling the last month's fee. I sneered coldly inside. As expected, she was already used to my efforts and even took them for granted. "Okay." I replied softly. Daisy and the others nearby kept mocking me, saying I was born to be a servant. On the surface, I looked frustrated and angry, my fists clenched tightly. That was just an act for their benefit. In reality, their verbal insults were like a breeze to me. I didn't care at all. All I cared about was whether I could smoothly get the last 200,000 this month, plus the 500,000 bonus.

The Super Expensive Racket

The badminton racket emitted a sharp tremor on the final smash, and as the crowd erupted in cheers, I only heard Emily Sue's cold voice: "Thirty thousand dollars for a racket?" She stared at the racket in my hand, her eyes like she was looking at a criminal. This racket was a coming-of-age gift from my father, and also the last straw that broke our engagement. Emily Sue's lips trembled, while my fingers gripped the handle tightly, suddenly realizing: what separated us was never just Jill Franklin.收起

My Husband Made Me Miscarry Nine Times

The cold surgical light pierced my eyes, making it impossible to open them; the doctor's distant, muffled voice reached me: "The ninth time, Mrs. Jones, your body..." I didn't hear the rest, fixating instead on the door. Earl Scott pushed the door open, impeccably dressed in a suit, still clutching his phone. "Is it over?" He glanced at the monitors without a flicker of concern. "The driver is downstairs to take you home." "Earl Scott," my voice was hoarse, alien even to myself, "this is your child too." He froze, turning to regard me as if I were a troublesome object. "Jennifer Jones, know your place. You have the status of Mrs. Scott; don't be greedy for more."收起

My Pregnant Husband

The day my husband Evan Shane decided to carry our child for me, the sunlight was dazzlingly bright. He said it was called the "Seahorse Daddy Plan," a romantic idea for men in this new era. I watched him sign the surgical consent form, his pen moving smoothly as if signing an ordinary contract. Nine weeks later, he was vomiting terribly while I calmly put on my lipstick. In the mirror, the corners of my mouth couldn't help but curl into a smile.收起

Laura's Rebirth

This is the tenth time my husband has stood me up. The nurse avoided my eyes. "Dr. Harmon is... discussing your case with Dr. Gilman." Discussing the case? The man who once gave up everything to study medicine for me now stays late into the night discussing cases with another woman, leaving me alone on our anniversary. "Laura, please listen to me—" Riley Harmon rushed in, trying to grab my shoulders. I pulled away sharply and flung open the wardrobe door. Three pieces of lace lingerie that aren't mine hung glaringly next to his shirts. "What do you wanna say?" I grabbed something and slammed it hard against him. "What are these? Are these some medical tools for discussing my...

Married for years, my wife was gentle and virtuous; everyone in the family praised her. But on Thanksgiving night, I publicly asked for a divorce, and everyone said I'd lost my mind. The Heiress's Project

"Cindy, you're the long-lost daughter of the Lincoln family!" On the other end of the phone, Mr. Quiller's voice was filled with incredible excitement. But before I could even process this, a sudden upheaval unfolded at the company where I worked. "Cindy! Your unexcused absence ruined the project—you must compensate for the five million in losses!" Felix slammed his fist on the table and roared. I hurried to defend myself: "Mr. Shawn, I submitted a leave application for personal reasons, and I also handed over the project!" "Humph, you intentionally provided wrong data during the handover, and now you still want to deny it?" Mary sneered sharply from the side. "I didn't! I have the handover checklist and data backups!"...

No Longer A Doormat Wife

The day I came home, cured of cancer, I saw another woman sleeping in my bed. Her smile curved her eyes, looking just like I did when I was twenty. My five-year-old son cuddled in her arms, sweetly calling her "Mom." My husband, Marcus Stafford, frowned and pulled me aside: "Don't scare Veronica, she's pregnant." I touched the scar on my belly from giving birth, and suddenly I laughed through my tears.收起
