The Wound That Led Me to Bliss

Five years ago, I pushed open the door to my home and saw them tangled together, their clothes in disarray. "What are you doing?" Dylan River stood up, a defiant look on his face. "Reed, Jennifer and I truly love each other." "She is my wife!" Jennifer George avoided my gaze. "Let's get a divorce. Actually, Dylan and I have been together for a year." Now, upon reuniting, she whispered softly, "Dylan and I have come to your place, hoping to see you." "Reed, there was a misunderstanding back then—" "Misunderstanding?" I pulled my hand away, my voice firm and resolute, "Threatening me with my mother's grave to force me to sign the divorce papers—is that really a misunderstanding? Ruining my life, stepping over my pain to climb higher—is that what you call a misunderstanding?" I stared at them, each word weighed with five years of concealed accusation: "You came here today to harm me again because you think I'm living too well?"收起

Chapter 1 of "The Wound That Led Me to Bliss"

The rehearsal for the commendation ceremony was underway; the lights were blindingly bright. The moment I stepped through the auditorium doors, my eyes locked onto the figure at the security checkpoint. It was Jennifer George. Five years have passed, yet she remains the same. The crisp special forces uniform made her shoulders appear even straighter, her short hair neatly tucked behind her ears, and her eyes and brows still bore the sharpness unique to a soldier. The security inspector clearly recognized her, a warm and enthusiastic smile brightening his face. "Captain George, long time no see! Still as formidable as ever!" Jennifer George nodded, but her gaze passed over the crowd, settling precisely on me. I was looking down, fumbling for my ID, when the security inspector glanced at my pass and furrowed his brow slightly. "Sir, please allow me to verify your credentials." Jennifer George stepped forward, her tone natural: "He is with me and related to the mission." I lifted my eyes and met her gaze. Within it were complicated emotions, as if veiled by a layer of mist. "No need." I spoke, my voice calmer than expected, "I have my own pass." As I said this, I took the pass from my pocket, my fingertips brushing the cool plastic cover. Jennifer George's eyes rested on the document; her eyelashes trembled slightly. The security inspector took the pass, carefully examined it, and after confirming everything was in order, allowed me through. I withdrew the pass and prepared to walk inside. "Reed Deer." Jennifer George called after me. I halted, but did not turn around. "Are you still blaming me?" Her voice was soft, laced with a faint, barely perceptible note of probing. A faint smile tugged at the corner of my mouth, but I remained silent. At the front of the Auditorium, the award recipients lined up for rehearsal, their footsteps precise and synchronized. All my thoughts were focused there. The past had long since faded like a worn, discolored photograph—not worth digging up again.

The Movie Queen

The phone screen lit up, the headline stabbing like a poisoned dagger straight into my eyes. "Rising star Grace Scott caught in photo scandal—private pictures leaked!" The photos were taken in my bedroom, my face so clear there was nowhere to hide. The makeup artist's powder puff froze mid-air, and the director's furious shout echoed from a distance. At that time, I still didn't know the person who planned all this was the one who promised to protect me forever.收起

I Bought Out My Ex's Empire

Luna Clark slammed a five-million cheque down in front of me, her bright red nail polish glaringly vivid. "Pamela, sign the divorce papers, take the money and get out—don't dirty the Lewis Family's doorstep!" I ran my fingertips over the check and chuckled softly. "How generous of you, Ms. Clark. But do you think this money is enough to fill the hole in the Lewis Group's project?" Her face dropped instantly. "How dare you threaten me?" "Threaten is too strong a word." I pulled out my phone and waved it lightly. "I just finished chatting with Daniel. He's quite interested in your bidding reserve price." "You dare collude with that illegitimate kid!" Luna shrieked. "I'll add another ten million! Cut...

Thanks to My Brother-Obsessed Ex

Three days before the wedding, in the afternoon, I got a call from my girlfriend, Tina Woods. "Michael Fey, my brother Drake woke up!" she said tearfully, but then her tone shifted abruptly, "Can we... postpone the wedding? He needs me now." I gripped the schedule tightly, holding back my anger: "Everything is set. You want to postpone now?" "He's my brother!" she shouted. Then, her brother Drake Woods' weak, deliberate voice came through the phone: "Tina, don't make things hard for Michael. I shouldn't have woken up now..." Tina Woods immediately cut him off with a pang of pain, then turned coldly to me and said, "Michael, the wedding has to be postponed! If not, I'm not going to...

After She Bullies Me in the Shopping Mall

The shopping mall was swarming with people; I was holding my seven-year-old daughter's hand when a stranger slapped me in public and forced me to kneel. She crushed my cell phone beneath her foot, left red marks on my child's face, and sneered that we "poor people aren't worthy to breathe." I pressed the locator my older brother gave me, swallowing my shame—all to protect Bella cradled in my arms. In a pool of blood, my husband lay barely alive, while my son clung to the attacker, calling her "baby." Today, I will no longer hide my identity as Ms. Lynn—everyone who has harmed my family will pay the price.收起

The Contract Surrogate

The sharp sting of disinfectant filled the air as I clutched my crumpled bills, kneeling in the hospital corridor. My younger brother's surgery fees were still far from covered. His First Love Answered My Call

At midnight, I called my boyfriend Andrew Foster's phone, wanting to tell him I was pregnant. But a female voice answered: "He's in the shower. You must be Mia Sewell, right?" The blood in my body instantly froze— it was the voice of his "deceased" first love, Yvonne Baker, who had been gone for eight years. I clung to the last shred of my dignity and hung up the phone. Just then, the sound of a key turning in the door came from outside—he was back. I gripped the pregnancy test tightly and walked straight up to him. "Andrew, let's get married." He frowned, his tone as impatient as ever. "It's not the time." "Not the time?" I looked him...

Undercover in the Kitchen of Horrors

"Mom, something's really off about this place." I watched the crowd lining up at the alley entrance, their eyes looking hooked. "You worry too much!" Mom shoved the bag into my hand. "Go!" The strange scent in the shop was intoxicating, mixed with a faint fishy odor from the kitchen. "Heather? Come in!" Hank rubbed his hands together, his smile creasing his face. The moment he lifted the kitchen curtain, I caught a glimpse of his son Jack's sharp, clear gaze—like a hunter's. After the shop closed at night, I heard the kitchen creak with the sound of bones crunching. "Heather, why aren't you leaving yet?" Hank suddenly appeared, a kitchen knife dripping with water in his hand. "I'm leaving...
