Two Brides, One Groom

2026-03-04

Tomorrow is my wedding. In the bridal chamber I decorated with my own hands, I caught my sister, Lorna Sudworth, straddling my fiancé, Henry Drew. "Jennifer, why are you here?" She smiled with a mocking edge, tracing circles on his chest with her fingertip. Henry Drew looked up and said, "Jennifer, calm down. I was drunk, and Lorna is too young—her hormones are running wild..." I laughed bitterly, tears shining in my eyes. "Our wedding's off!" "This is ridiculous!" Dad burst in, his face pale. "The invitations have all gone out, the media's already reported it! If you cancel now, what about the dignity of both families?" Mom grabbed my arm, pleading, "Jennifer, men are all like that... once you're married, he'll come to his senses." I scanned every face in the room—so fake, so panicked, so utterly indifferent. Finally, I nodded slowly. "Fine," I said, "the wedding will go on as planned." As I turned away, I pulled out my phone. The screen lit up with a new message. "Everything's in place."收起

Chapter 1 of "Two Brides, One Groom"

Tomorrow is my wedding day. I spent three months decorating the new bridal room, personally handling every detail. I bent down to straighten the last bottle of champagne roses, imagining the warmth of him holding my hand as we walk down the red carpet tomorrow. The moment I pushed open the master bedroom door, all my hopes came crashing down. My fiancé, Henry Drew, was leaning against the headboard. My sister, Lorna Sudworth, was straddling his lap, her arms wrapped tightly around him. The wedding bed, which should have been neatly made, was in complete disarray. Lorna heard the noise and slowly lifted her head, a taunting smirk playing at the corner of her lips. "Jennifer, why are you here at this time?" Her voice was sultry, but her nails scraped along Henry's collarbone. Her hand remained hooked around his neck, not loosening an inch. Blood shot straight to my head, reason drowned by a tide of anger. I lost control and lunged forward, my palm slicing through the air to slap her face. "You bi*ch!" I screamed hoarsely, my eyes burning as if on fire. With a sharp smack, Lorna's cheek instantly blossomed with five red finger marks. She screamed, shrinking into Henry's arms as tears spilled uncontrollably. Henry suddenly raised his hand, his elbow driving hard into my chest. The force was staggering, and I stumbled backward, my back slamming painfully against the wardrobe door. "Jennifer, don't be rash!" he said, shielding Lorna. "She's young, hormones are raging—it wasn't intentional!" Coughing and clutching my chest, I looked at him in complete disbelief. "She's young—are you young, too?" My voice cracked, thick with anger and tears. Hurried footsteps echoed down the hall as my parents rushed in. Mom pushed the door open, her face instantly draining of color at the scene before her. She covered her mouth, tears streaming down: "How could this happen...?" Lorna yanked herself free from Henry's arms and crashed into Dad's embrace. Her shoulders shook as she cried, tears blurring her face. "Dad, Henry and I really love each other," she choked out, but her fingers sneaked a pointed jab in my direction. "You've always favored Jennifer, giving her the best of everything; we had no choice but to..." Twisting the truth and saying it with such confidence. Dad frowned, his eyes darting between me and Lorna. He noticed Lorna's flushed cheeks, then looked at my clenched fists. He finally let out a heavy sigh: "Jennifer, things have come to this. You need to calm down first." Calm down? The most important and happiest day of my life has been torn to pieces by her—how am I supposed to calm down? Henry helped Lorna to her feet and buttoned up his shirt. There wasn't a hint of guilt in his eyes: "Jennifer, I'm sorry. I'll give you a reasonable explanation for this." Lorna walked up to him, and the two of them left the carefully decorated new bridal room hand in hand, without looking back. The moment the door slammed shut, I couldn't hold it together any longer and collapsed onto the floor, surrounded by scattered rose petals. Then I slowly stood up and moved toward the wall. That huge wedding photo hung there, Henry's gentle smile frozen in place. I turned around, grabbed the fruit knife from the table, and slashed viciously at his smiling face in the photo. Again and again. The wedding photo shattered, its spiderweb cracks mirroring my broken heart.

The Debts on My Birthday

On my twentieth birthday, I eagerly opened the velvet box my mother had carefully prepared, hoping to find the Polaroid camera I had longed for. But instead, I found a shocking stack of IOUs! My mother sobbed, begging me to believe in all she had ‘sacrificed' for me over the years. Yet as I delved deeper, I discovered it was all a meticulously crafted web of lies! Never His Wife, Just the Nanny

Four months pregnant, I was at the mall buying essentials for my paralyzed father-in-law, John Shaw. But I caught my husband, Jim Shaw, gently putting a gold necklace on another girl. "Jim, who is she?" The smile on his face froze instantly, then turned into an impatient shove. "Susan Charles. What are you making such a fuss about? She's just a student of mine!" I staggered and bumped into the shelf, a dull ache in my lower belly. Everyone around stared like I was some kind of pest, but he still distanced himself, word by word: "Don't forget who you are — you're just a nanny we hired." Eight years of giving, and one word—"nanny"—shattered my heart completely. That night,...

The Lemon Candy

I found a lemon candy in his jacket pocket, its sweetness laced with sourness—he hated sour the most. The next moment, a selfie of the new female racer popped up in the club chat, same candy wrapper, same watch, even the new mobile phone password he'd just changed was her lucky number. Seven years, I raced every track with him, only to lose to one sentence: "She reminds me of you when you were younger." I crushed the candy wrapper, sugar shards digging into my palm: the wedding goes on, but the bride will be someone else. Later, he knelt at the end of the race track, begging me to turn back, but I hit the gas and drove away—I'll...

Truth, Trust, and a Ticket

I hid the vasectomy report for half a year, intending to surprise her with it today. When I opened the door, she was sitting on the sofa in a brand-new dress, wearing a look of pride I had never seen before. "I'm pregnant." She pushed the pregnancy test report toward me, as if displaying a trophy. My heart sank. I reached into my pocket, my fingertips brushing against that cold proof of surgery. "Whose child is it?" "It's definitely not yours." She stood up, looming over me, "I'm done with squeezing into subways and haggling over discounts with you. Otto can give me the life I want." I looked at her face, so full of confidence, and suddenly laughed. "Is...

The True Heiress's Counterattack

"Emerald Yip?" The voice behind me was so familiar it sent a chill down my spine. I turned around, only to meet Brad Lancaster's eyes, filled with scorn. And in the crook of his arm was the Yip Family's very own usurping fake daughter—my "sister". Ha, fate truly is a cruel playwright with a wicked sense of humor.收起

Meeting My Destiny in Flames

The iron gate was locked tight. I clutched the shards of my mother's Jade Bracelet, and Lucy's voice came from outside: "Alex, she's in there. Burn her to ashes, and everything will be fine." Alex's tone was hesitant: "Do we really have to? She saved my life once." "I'm the one who saved you!" Lucy raised her voice. "Burn her, and we can get married!" Flames licked at the door panel, and thick smoke made me cough violently. I banged on the door and screamed: "Alex, how dare you! You know the truth!" Silence fell outside. Flames seeped through the cracks of the door, and everything went black before my eyes. Suddenly, a crash of splintering wood rang out, and...

My Baby's Warning Signals

"Brian, how much longer are you going to wait? Eva's belly is already showing!" Lucy's voice was sharp with impatience and malice. Brian's tone was cold enough to cut to the bone. "What's the hurry? Only when she gives birth, and we send both her and the child to the grave together, will it be enough to pay for what her family owed me back then." "But I can't stand it anymore! She's occupying the position of your wife and carrying your child!" "Behave yourself." Brian snapped. "Acting now would be far too obvious. I've already had the abortion pills prepared. We'll strike when she's seven months pregnant." My whole body trembled. A faint flutter suddenly came from my belly....
