The Deadly Walnut Powder

2026-03-04

I am Blair Scott, a dessert chef known in South City. I should have lived a sweet, happy life, but I never imagined my husband, Eric Luke, was cheated with Cindy White. She appeared delicate, but her heart was as venomous as a snake's, willing to do whatever it took to rise. Six years ago, at the Luke Group's anniversary banquet, the dessert I had lovingly prepared became the blade that killed me. Because of Cindy White's cruel lie, Eric heartlessly forced me to swallow walnut powder, to which I am allergic. My asthma flared up, and I died at the hands of the person I loved most...收起

Chapter 1 of "The Deadly Walnut Powder"

I'm a dessert chef with a modest reputation in South City. The coconut mousse I craft can win over even the most demanding food experts, but in the end, that very skill became the knife that killed me. My husband, Eric Luke, is always accompanied by a woman named Cindy White. Cindy is severely allergic to nuts—Eric has kept that in mind for three years. But he forgot that I have asthma; I can't tolerate even the slightest trace of nut dust, let alone swallowing a whole plate of walnut powder. That day was the Luke Group's anniversary banquet, with chandeliers lighting the hall as bright as daylight. I stood behind the dessert counter, carefully placing the last plate of nut-free mousse—meticulously avoiding any ingredients that could trigger Cindy White's allergy. As I turned to grab a Silver Fork, sudden crying came from behind me. I looked back and saw Cindy holding that plate of mousse, collapsing into Eric Luke's arms, her shoulders shaking uncontrollably. "Eric, Blair did this on purpose..." She coughed until tears streamed from her eyes, her face unnaturally flushed. "She knows I can't have walnuts, yet she added crushed walnuts into the mousse..." The silver fork in my hand clattered onto the marble floor. I hurried over and grabbed Eric Luke's sleeve. "It wasn't me, Eric, I didn't add walnuts—you have to believe me!" Eric Luke didn't even lift his eyelids. He raised his hand and pushed me away with such force that I staggered into the dessert counter; plates crashed to the floor, cream splattering all over me. "Blair, when will you stop?” His voice was as cold as winter ice. "If Cindy ends up harmed, can you take responsibility?" "Eric, don't blame Blair. Maybe she just forgot..." "I'm fine, just a little short of breath..." Those words pierced Eric Luke like a needle, making him even angrier. He grabbed my wrist and dragged me to a corner of the banquet hall, where a plate of finely ground walnut powder sat on the table before us. "Since you forgot Cindy is allergic, you can taste it for her." He pinched my chin, forcing me to open my mouth, his tone leaving no room for negotiation: "Eat it all, and we'll call it even." The scent of the walnut powder flooded my nostrils, and I burst into a coughing fit immediately. The warning signs of asthma were already coming on—my chest tightening, every breath growing more difficult: "Eric, I have asthma, I can't eat nuts, it could kill me!" But he thought I was just pretending to be pitiful. He sneered, scooped up a spoonful of walnut powder, and shoved it into my mouth: "Stop faking it. If you really cared about Cindy, you should be able to endure this." The powder choked my airway, like someone was grabbing my throat. Each breath ripped through me like a knife, my vision darkening. I grabbed onto Eric Luke's pant leg, begging for help—only to be kicked away in disgust. Don't make people sick here. He turned and lifted Cindy White into his arms, his voice softening instantly. "Cindy, we're going to the hospital." I lay on the cold floor, watching their backs disappear through the door. As my mind grew hazy, I thought I saw Principal Clark rush in, her sobs both distant and painfully close. When I woke again, I was floating in midair. Below me, doctors covered my body with a white sheet, still smeared with cream that hadn't been wiped away. Principal Clark collapsed onto my body, crying as her shoulders shook violently. The doctor patted her back, offering comfort: "My condolences—you arrived too late. The asthma attack caused suffocation; there was nothing we could do." I tried to hold her, but my hands slipped right through her shoulders. It was only then that I understood—I was already dead, killed by the hands of the one I loved most, dead at the very feast I had carefully prepared. It wasn't until later that I realized the doctor had called Eric Luke several times that day. Each time, Cindy White answered and told the doctor, “No need to worry about that woman,” then turned off the phone.

Revenge of the Fake Heiress

I had been the adopted daughter of the Scott family for twenty-two years, enduring the harshest scoldings and the most agonizing beatings. Tim was my only light; he had promised to protect me for a lifetime. But when Quincy, the true daughter of the Scott family, showed up, everything turned into a joke. "Wendy, you're nothing but a thief who stole Quincy's place!" The loathing in my adoptive mother's voice pierced my heart like an icicle. Tim also ran into Quincy's arms, his tone cold as ice: "Wendy, you're no longer worthy of me." To force me to sign the divorce papers, Tim even locked me in the basement. "Sign it, or you'll never get out!" Disappointed, I left them...

"Wendy Jones, how much did those shoes of yours cost?" My mother-in-law's voice echoed from the doorway, and I froze mid-change of shoes. She clutched the receipt from the shopping bag, veins bulging on the back of her hand. "Thirty thousand." I straightened up, "I bought them with my project bonus." "Your bonus?" My sister-in-law Violet peeked out from the kitchen and gave a sharp laugh, "You married into my family; every penny you make belongs to us! Perfect timing—I'm eyeing a bag that costs fifty thousand. Transfer it to me tomorrow." "Gabriel," I said, looking at my husband sitting silently on the sofa, "are you on the same page?" He looked away, his Adam's apple bobbing. "Wendy, we're family......

The Mortician's Revenge

I gripped the down payment and pushed the door open, only to catch Stella snuggled up in Henry's arms. "Well, look who's back—Nancy?" She rubbed herself against Henry. "Henry said he'd lay all his cards on the table once you paid off the last installment of the loan." Henry wrapped an arm around her, his tone blunt and to the point. "Now that you've seen this, let's get it straight. We've squeezed just about every penny out of that money you earned restoring the remains." "I slaved away day and night to pay off the debt, and this is how you repay me?" I clutched the contract tightly, my voice trembling. "What else did you expect?" Stella scoffed. "Did you...

He leaned in close, "Remember last week when you were holding broken glass, trying to cut your wrist?" "I don't remember." "Of course you don't remember." His fingertip traced the old scar on my wrist. "You never remember anything from when you're having an episode." I suddenly looked up. "But I'm a PhD in Psychology, Zachary Stafford." "Used to be." I Stood Up Against Workplace Injustice

On my 30th birthday, I clutched the performance report that ranked me among the top three in the Marketing Department, yet my fingertips suddenly turned cold. In Mark Collins' office, he leaned back in his leather chair, and the sound of his fingertips tapping the desk was like a death knell. "Rachel, transfer to Logistics. Your monthly salary will be 1,500," he said without even lifting his eyes. The disdain in his tone stung my eardrums. I suddenly clenched my fists tightly. "Mr. Collins, I've been among the top performers for five years. Why am I being transferred and having my salary cut?" "Why?" He sneered, leaning forward and staring at me. "A 30-year-old woman can no longer keep up...
