The Scar on the Collar Bone

2026-03-04

I was suddenly recognized by my so-called "biological parents" and brought back to their so-called home, only to realize I was just a "tool" being traded for a bride price. The foster daughter handed me a stack of matchmaking profiles, saying the family's company is cash-strapped and just waiting for me to pick someone to marry and get the money. I deliberately kept my foster family's background under wraps, waiting to unmask their real faces at the engagement banquet...收起

Chapter 1 of "The Scar on the Collar Bone"

I'd barely got home when a friend dragged me down to the pedestrian street in the old district to soak up the buzz. A crowd had gathered in the middle of the pedestrian street, with colorful neon signs flashing in a dizzying blur. As I got closer, I saw an online celebrity setting up a pop-up livestream booth, hosting some kind of 'street quiz.' I was just trying to slip away when the assistant from the live stream suddenly rushed over and shoved the microphone into my hand. The camera clicked right up close just as I was still chewing on the sugar-roasted chestnuts I'd just bought. The host, holding a cue card, laughed, "Miss pretty lady, what kind of man would marry you?" I spat out the chestnut shell and smiled at the camera, "Just someone who can feed me well." I didn't take it seriously, finished the recording, and followed my friends to keep wandering around, having already tossed the whole thing out of my mind. Until three days later, when the doorbell at my family's villa rang. When I opened the door, a middle-aged couple was standing outside. The man's suit was crumpled and stained with grease, and the woman carried a worn-out bag, her eyes fixed intently on my collarbone. "You... you must be Blair, right?"Her voice trembled as she reached out to touch me. I took a step back, frowning. "Who are you?" "I'm your mom, Mary Lewis! And this is your dad, Mike Scott!" She pointed to the man beside her, her hand still shaking. "That crescent-shaped scar on your collarbone—you got it from scalding yourself as a kid, no mistake!" I touched the scar on my collarbone—a light brown patch, curved like a bent fingernail. My foster parents said I had it when they found me. A sudden rush of strange feelings bubbled up inside me—I couldn't tell if it was anger or just pure absurdity. Mike Scott rubbed his hands together, his face full of wrinkles as he smiled, "Blair, back then your parents accidentally lost you. We've been searching for you day and night all these years!" Mary Lewis wiped her tears and said, "Now that we've finally found you, come home with your parents. We'll make it up to you properly." I watched their over-the-top performance and suddenly wondered how far this little play was going to go. Nodded: "Alright, I'll go back with you guys." The Scott family's villa sat in the old neighborhood, its walls freshly painted in bright white. But inside? A cheap kind of flashy — the crystal chandelier was covered in dust, and the leather sofa had a small tear, showing off some yellowed foam underneath. Just as I walked in, a guy with dyed blond hair jumped up from the sofa, still clutching his game controller. "Dad, Mom, is this the sister you found?" He gave me a once-over, eyes full of disgust. "She doesn't look all that great." Mary shoved him and said, "Ben! Mind your manners when talking to your sister!" Just then, a girl in a white dress walked over, holding a thick stack of papers, smiling gently. "Hey, sis, I'm Vivian Lincoln. Mom and Dad adopted me ten years ago." She handed me the papers, her fingertips still painted pink. "These are marriage prospects Mom and Dad picked out for you. Choose one and get married. The family company's strapped for cash right now, counting on the bride price to bail us out." I flipped through the profiles, eyeing the listed assets—none topping a few million, not even enough to buy the purse I usually carry. I couldn't help but laugh out loud: "When I say 'eating well,' I mean being taken to a restaurant where the average person drops 18,000 per meal—not gnawing on instant noodles every day." Ben Scott paused his game and scoffed without looking up: "Are you crazy? An average of 18,000? Have you ever even been to a hot pot restaurant, or are you just bluffing?" I put down the papers and shrugged: "Honestly, I haven't." That wasn't even a tiny bit of an exaggeration. At my foster parents' place, whenever we had hot pot, all the ingredients were flown in from overseas, and the kitchen lady would simmer the broth for eight hours straight. I've never even set foot in a hot pot restaurant. As soon as Ben heard that, he got even more smug: “See, I told you, just a country bumpkin pretending to be some rich lady!” Vivian Lincoln quickly tugged his arm, then turned to me, her voice soft as cotton: “Sis, don't take it to heart, Ben's just clumsy with words.” “By the way, tonight is Harry's birthday. We're celebrating at the hot pot restaurant. You should come along! If you marry him, Mom and Dad will be over the moon.”

My Dog Bunny Told Me Their Secret

I won 50 million dollars! My hands were shaking so badly I couldn't even put the key in. I haven't lived this life for nothing—finally, I can get my son James a bigger house! I rushed in, shouting eagerly, "James! I won..." "Won what?" James Liebes cut me off with an annoyed look, "Mom, Jasmine Laurie's mom is moving in for good. This house is just too small." My daughter-in-law Jasmine Laurie added, "Yeah, you're getting old. Why don't you just go back to the hometown? It'd be quieter." Jasmine's mom, Quinn Cruise, smirked, "You're old enough. You should know your place." James Liebes slammed a paper down in front of me. "Sign this letter of Disownment, we'll give you...

My Ex-Husband is a Control Freak

On that winter day when snow fell heavily across the sky, my fingers clutching the canvas bag were stiff with cold. Caleb stood blocking the entrance, a look of panic in his eyes that I had never seen before. "Cindy, just try taking one step out of this door!" His voice carried a threat, and his fingertips were almost poking my nose. I looked up at him—the man who had trapped me for three years. There was an air of utter entitlement in his tone: "I've given you fine clothes and good food. What more could you want? Without me, neither you nor Frank will survive!" "I want freedom!" I shoved him away suddenly, my voice cracking with the roar...

A Toast to Betrayal

"Julia, we need to talk." Jesse Campbell's voice was unusually low. "What's wrong? Is there a problem with the process?" "You're handing over the leadership of the Stellar Journey project to Alicia." I doubted my ears. "What did you say?" "She has resources that helped my company go public." He avoided my gaze. "It's crucial for my company." "And what about me? You promised to make our relationship public tonight!" "That can wait for now." His tone grew cold. He stood up. "It's decided. You'll cooperate at the celebration banquet." "What if I say no?" Jesse Campbell turned around, his eyes cold as ice. "Then you go ahead and try. Julia, you won't be able to handle the consequences."收起

A Lawyer's Vengeance

On the screen is a surveillance screenshot of Evan George and Willa Xavier at the entrance of my Villa. I lifted the coffee cup and took a sip. "Archive it." "But Mrs. Cara, this is already the third time Mr. George has..." My phone vibrated. It was a message from Evan George: "Cara, the anniversary dinner is booked—the usual place. Forever love you." I curled the corner of my mouth and replied, "Okay." I set my phone down and gazed out at the unceasing flow of traffic outside the window. "Tomorrow morning at nine," my voice was calm, as if discussing the weather, "if I don't show up, send this, along with the encrypted files, to the Procuratorate." The assistant...

The Secret in the Comments

Arthur Silva suddenly grabbed my wrist, spilling coffee all over me. "I... I didn't know she would go this far." "You didn't know?" I stepped closer, forcing the words through clenched teeth, "Arthur, you're an accomplice too." He took half a step back, as if my words had pierced his heart. "Wait—" He stopped me again, his voice hoarse. "What if I said... I have proof? Proof that she planned it all back then." I spun around sharply. "What proof?" He leaned in close, his breath nearly brushing my ear: "There's a recording—she admitted it with her own mouth. But you have to promise me one thing—" "Say it." "Let me see Melody." A dangerous gleam flashed in his eyes....

The Snowscape of Our Goodbye

On the television, Norton Elliott's voice was bitterly cold: "My only regret is that I married Serena Tripp." The remote slipped from my hand. At the zenith of his life, my husband nailed me to the pillar of disgrace. "She killed my parents and had an abortion without my consent." I coughed violently, blood seeping between my fingers. The advanced lung cancer diagnosis in my pocket was the sole countdown I had left. The doorbell rang. Outside the door stood his new lover, Miranda Lopez, a victorious smile playing at the corners of her mouth. "Norton asked me to deliver the invitation. It's our celebration banquet; you must attend." I stared at her. "Do you truly believe he loves you?"...

Entanglement Across Two Lifetimes

Leo clenched his change and screamed through tears: "Sis! Charles gave Lisa more money than me!" I grabbed Charles by the collar and demanded angrily: "Charles, what do you take me for? This wedding is a joke!" He swatted my hand away, his eyes cold: "Linda Scott, don't be ungrateful! Marrying you was always just a transaction!" Lisa leaned against him: "Linda, Charles only has me in his heart. You're nothing but a stepping stone for his rise." I smashed the wine glass to the ground: "A stepping stone? My family treated you well—how dare you scheme against us!" Charles shouted sharply: "Enough! Linda, you're ruining the Scott Family with your own hands!" The company collapsed. My parents died. Leo...
